Crypto Whales Just Got a Cleaner Way to Buy U.S. Real Estate
Crypto buyers have long had the money to buy real estate, but not always the infrastructure to close like everyone else.
CryptEscrow and First American Title are trying to change that. The companies announced a partnership that gives title agents a compliant way to convert digital assets into U.S. dollars during real estate closings, without requiring sellers, agents or escrow teams to handle crypto directly.

Crypto Real Estate Gets A Mainstream Closing Path
CryptEscrow said First American Title is the first major title insurance underwriter to approve crypto-backed real estate transactions through its crypto-to-cash settlement platform.
First American Title is the main title insurance and settlement business of First American Financial Corporation, one of the largest real estate transaction companies in the United States.
The partnership is aimed at a practical problem in the housing market. Crypto holders may have significant wealth in Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), stablecoins or other digital assets, but sellers typically want dollars and title companies need clean, verifiable funds.
Until now, moving from crypto into money acceptable for a closing often required multiple intermediaries and a more complicated process.
Crypto Real Estate Buyers Can Now Convert Assets Into Dollars
Under the arrangement, CryptEscrow handles the conversion of digital assets into U.S. dollars, while the transaction continues through standard title and escrow workflows.
The seller receives dollars, and the title agent does not need to custody tokens or redesign the closing process around blockchain infrastructure.
The companies said the model has already been used in a $4.2 million residential home purchase facilitated by First American through CryptEscrow’s settlement process.

“Digital assets have created an entirely new class of buyers, and the real estate industry needs practical infrastructure that helps them participate in the housing market,” said John Ioannou, founder of CryptEscrow.
Crypto Real Estate Moves Beyond Sellers Accepting Bitcoin
Stephen Vincini, Agency Division President at First American, said the partnership opens the door to buyers holding digital assets by giving them “a seamless path to convert crypto into USD and move confidently into real estate purchases.”
The timing reflects a broader shift in how crypto wealth is entering traditional markets.
CryptEscrow cited estimates that roughly 67 million Americans own crypto, while 12.7% of Gen Z and millennial homebuyers have sold crypto to help fund a down payment.
